How Far Along:<\/strong>\u00a020 weeks! Halfway there! (pic: 20w0d)<\/p>\n

Isla Comparison:\u00a0<\/strong>I feel like the belly the second time around is a lot more out there. Whaddya think<\/a>?<\/p>\n

Size of Baby as Relative to Common Household Fruit or Vegetable: <\/strong>Philly cheese steak<\/p>\n

Total Weight Gain:<\/strong>\u00a02 lbs. up!<\/p>\n

Sex:<\/strong> Boy<\/p>\n

Movement:<\/strong>\u00a0Definitely moving around. I’m getting a much better feel for what position he’s in–and he still has enough room in there to change regularly–by where his kicks and punches are.<\/p>\n

Sleep:\u00a0<\/strong>I’ve been needing more of it the last few days. Not sure if it’s just because we’ve been so busy with the holidays or if it’s because baby and I both have been doing a lot of growing lately, but I’m pretty worn out most evenings by 7 o’clock.<\/p>\n

What I miss:<\/strong>\u00a0Maybe sleeping without a small army of pillows propping me up?<\/p>\n

Cravings:<\/strong>\u00a0Carbs.<\/p>\n

Symptoms:<\/strong>\u00a0SI joint pain, round ligament pain, a little bit of cramping, fatigue. I had my first appointment with the chiropractor today. I’ll be going back weekly until baby gets here to help keep the aches and pains under control.<\/p>\n

Maternity Clothes:<\/strong>\u00a0Non-maternity shirts are starting to get too short in the front to be decent. I’m going to be in maternity gear full time probably in another week or two.<\/p>\n

Preparations:<\/strong>\u00a0We decided to do cloth diapering in the newborn phase this time. I can get a small stash of prefolds and covers for around $75, which is less expensive than disposable diapers we’d need to hold us over until baby grows into our OS cloth diapers,\u00a0unless he’s a 10 lber at birth, which is super unlikely given Kellen was a 5 lb. baby, I was a 6 lb. baby, and Isla was just a hair over 7 lbs. We\u00a0also picked out a car seat. Most of the heavy duty prep will start after the holidays are over, though.<\/p>\n

Emotions:<\/strong>\u00a0Feeling a little anxiety as the anatomy scan and V-day (viability) approach. I know how much can still go catastrophically wrong at this point, and I just want to get through the next few weeks, until we’re past the scariest tests and in the safety zone of having a viable baby.<\/p>\n

PgAL Thoughts:<\/strong>\u00a0I try to focus on gratitude and the positive. I love the holidays so much and have been having a great time celebrating them with Isla, who is just as into them as I am and who sees the same magic in this time of year that I do, and I am so very grateful to be expecting this baby boy in just a few months. Still. It’s hard not to think that there were 2 other babies who might have been having their first Christmas this year and another I might have been going into my third trimester with. I miss them and mourn the moments I’m not having with them, even as I celebrate the moments I’m having with my two living children. They’re just always there in the back of my mind.<\/p>\n

Best Moment(s) This Week:<\/strong>\u00a0We’ve had so many. We put up our tree and lights last Friday. Isla and I started doing the advent calendar on Tuesday. We went to the Mueller tower lighting here in Austin with friends where Isla got to play in “snow” they carted in for the event. It’s been a very good week. Here is a snap from the morning Isla went to see Santa:<\/p>\n
